Sparkling Souls: Erin Williams

Erin Williams In Our Stillness

The SPARKLING SOULS interview series is a conversation with inspiring women and men creating positive change and living their dream life. We explore my favourite question; what do you believe in?

Meet Erin Williams. She’s a writer and self-love advocate whose truthful words and shining spirit will light up your day.

When you sink your eyes into Erin’s blog, In Our Stillness and in her two gorgeous e-Books, Devoted and Falling in Self-Love, you’ll discover divinely crafted sentences exploring self-love and healthy living. Messages that, in my opinion, women of our time need to hear.

Erin and I connected in a mutual Facebook group at the beginning of 2015 and now I feel incredibly grateful to spend a couple of hours each week moving and marvelling at the sunrise over the ocean with this incredible woman (she’s now a dear personal training client).

Feel the love and kindness exude from her words below, and enjoy getting to know Erin!

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

I’m a blogger, writer, travel aficionado and a stillness seeker. I write to inspire women to define their own sense of wellness, fall deeply in self-love and reignite their missing sense of vitality.

I love learning – about myself and the world, and I’m always seeking out new adventures. You can always find me with either a book in my hands or my hiking shoes on. And I truly believe that we all need to add a bit more stillness in to our lives, which is the inspiration behind my blog name – In Our Stillness.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?

Professionally, I dream of coaching and helping women to find their own sense of wellness – to come up with their own definition of what healthy living means. I dream of writing books and maybe even diving into the world of freelance writing. I also want to start a self-care revolution where women everywhere start to prioritise their own needs and their wellbeing.

Personally, I dream of a life full of travel, exploration, adventure and love. I see myself continuing to grow and learn and I will hopefully be loving every minute of it.

WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO NOURISH YOUR BODY WITH HEALTHY FOODS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS?

In short, because it makes me feel good.

I choose to nourish my body with healthy food and positive thoughts because it fills me up on so many different levels. Good food and positive thoughts feed not only my body, but also my mind and soul.

When I’m choosing foods because of how much nutrition they offer and how they make me feel, rather than how many calories they have, I’m acknowledging to myself that feeling good is my priority, rather than looking a certain way. I don’t choose healthy foods to lose weight or fit into my skinny jeans, I choose to nourish my body so that I can feel happy from the inside out.

Filling my mind and soul with positive thoughts is one way that I practice self-love. And again, it helps me feel happy, supported and loved from the inside out.

WHAT DOES MEDITATION LOOK LIKE FOR YOU? WHY DO YOU DO IT?

I try to meditate most days. Often this looks like me getting comfy on the couch and tuning into my breath. I usually aim for 10 minutes of stillness, sometimes more and definitely sometimes less.

In the last year I’ve started practicing a few guided meditations, although time is a big factor in how often I listen to a guided meditation, as generally these are 20 to 30 minutes long.

I also love going for a walk on the beach or in the bush, sitting down and getting still. I keep my eyes open and simply soak in the beauty around me.

I meditate because it helps me connect to my inner guide – I can figure out how I feel, how I want to continue to feel, and what I want out of a given situation. It also grounds me into the present moment and if I let my practice slip for awhile I find that little things can start to bother me or stress me out.

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 5 TIPS FOR LIVING A HEALTHY AND HAPPY LIFE?

1. Prioritise you. Put your needs first, and take care of yourself every single day. In any way that works for you.

2. Experiment and discover what makes you feel your best. And then do it.

3. Choose nourishing foods the majority of the time, but don’t feel guilty if you eat something “bad”.

4. On that notes, stop labelling foods as good and bad, or clean and dirty. When it comes down to it, food is just food, even if some of it offers more nutrition than others.

5. Add in some stillness to your life, even it’s only for a few minutes.

WHAT’S ONE THING YOU’D MOST LIKE TO CHANGE ABOUT THE WORLD?

I wish that women would start to prioritise their self-care. As women we give so much and we so often put the needs of our loved ones first, but it’s so important that we remember that our needs and desires also need to be met. We can only ever be the best version of ourselves (whether that is as a friend, partner, work colleague, confidant, mother, daughter – or a mixture of all of these) when we are taking care of ourselves first.

I would love to live in a world where women take time for themselves every single day, and where these moments of self-care are completely relished and enjoyed.

IF YOU COULD OFER A CHILD VERSION OF YOURSELF ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT WULD IT BE?

I would give myself a huge bear hug, and look deep into my eyes. I would say ‘honey, you are perfect exactly as you are. Don’t worry so much about what other people think or the number on the scale. You are more than enough – exactly as you are.’

I FEEL ALIVE WHEN…

I open my eyes after a meditation. When I’m throwing my body through a wave. Staring into my boyfriend’s eyes. When I’m travelling. After a yoga class. When I’m hiking through beautiful bushland. When I pause and take a few moments to appreciate everything amazing in my life.

THE THING I LOVE MOST ABOUT MYSELF…

My positive outlook. No matter what is going on in my life I can also find something to laugh or smile about.

TO ME, SELF HEALTH WELLNESS MEANS…

finding my own sense of health and wellness, based on what makes me feel good. It means not blindly following trends or doing something just because someone else is doing it. It means finding a style of eating, exercise, meditation and thinking that suits my lifestyle and allows me to live and feel the way I want to.

Hey Old Friend, I’m Back

How are you? I really hope you’re wonderful!

It feels like a lifetime since I’ve written to you, and in a (symbolic) way for me it has been.

While I’ve been on my self-imposed Winter Immersion, I’ve done what feels like a lifetime worth of healing, loving and up-levelling in every facet of life.

I’ve been itching to write to you and fill you in on the happenings over my winter break and share the magic in the pipeline now that spring is warming the air and the fire in my belly is roaring once again.

I headed offline to rest, relax and indulge in all the great things in my life, but I was quickly – like three days into my retreat – reacquainted with my inner Seeker. The part of me that is curious beyond satiation.

I was reminded that we don’t have control over when the great lessons are served to us. For me, as soon as I created space in my life by going offline I was guided to go within.

And so I went seeking, to the deepest depths of my being.

I went heart-first into the dark, where it’s messy, and it’s wild and untamed and uncomfortable. But this was different to the other times I’ve explored those secret parts hidden by shadows.

This time, while I was seeking, peeling back layers and doing the work, I was so acutely present to all of the pain, all of the pleasure and ALL of the emotion, though amidst the chaos, I embodied a new, profound level of calm.

We Seekers have a contract to do the inner work. Somewhere in our time we made a commitment to the cycle of exploration, discovery, and surrender.

We’re devoted to exploring ourselves so thoroughly that we come to the surface only to replenish our lungs with a deep breath of fresh air before we dive back in to discover more truths, and to surrender to new, more divine ways of being.

My guess is that if you’re reading this, you’re probably a seeker too (maybe you haven’t realised it yet).

I’ve emerged from retreat with a message for the seekers who might be struggling and striving to no avail on their own path (or who need a reminder today).

Surrender.

Surrender.

Surrender.

Hold the unwavering faith that you are supported in every area of your life. That you are in the perfect place, at the perfect time, with all the resources you need right now to learn, grow and transform into whoever and whatever you desire.

YOU ARE DIVINE.

(More to come on that soon)

So I’m back! With a deep, deep love for myself unlike I’ve ever experienced before, with a refreshed and aligned sense of purpose, and with a desire to create for the pure joy of it, and above all, to serve you, my friend.

Love and happiness,

Joscelin xo

Winter Immersion

WINTER-IMMERSION

Last Month, I woke one morning with the words WINTER IMMERSION rolling around my mind. I decided that it was going to be the name of my group coaching program that I’d been playing with the idea of, and that I’d lead a group of women on a journey to deeply nourish themselves through the winter months.

Not a week later, after a mildly stressful day that completely rattled me, I realised that the message – WINTER IMMERSION – was just for me.

I decided to stop. Everything.

Trow out all my to-do lists.

Stop pushing and wrestling and striving.

And the permission I gave myself to stop peeled a layer of darkness off my eyes.

I’d been feeling heavy. Like everything was really forced and hard. Nothing was flowing and although I was managing my stress, I was only just holding on. So when I decided to stop I felt like a heavy weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

I felt light for the first time in months, and I wanted MORE.

Lightness.

The first thing I desired to do was to write letters to my old friends who I’ve not spoken with recently. And then the natural desire to REALLY look after myself kicked back in, so…

I’m practicing tai chi daily. And meditating.

I’m reading books that are totally un-work related and losing myself in fantasy lands.

I’m drawing, and writing just for the love of it.

I’m moving; walking, dancing, training in the gym, stretching. Moving in any way my body feels like moving.

I’m intent on focussing my energy on the relationship with myself, and the things I say to myself (on repeat) each day.

I’m cooking delicious, warming, wintery meals instead of scraping together a quick something at the last minute.

I’m completely immersed in my own wellbeing.

Actually, I’m completely immersed in just BEING.

And it feels so freakin’ good.

I don’t know where this winter immersion will take me, but I intend to go deep into my Self – the thrill of what I might find there or where I’ll expand to next is exhilarating.

Stay tuned.

If we’re not already friends on Instagram then come over and say hi – @selfhealthwellness – that’s the only social media platform I’ll be hanging out on this winter and I’d love to share behind the scenes of my winter immersion with you there and to see what YOUR idea of a winter immersion is too.

Sparkling Souls: Tess Philip

TessPhilip

The SPARKLING SOULS interview series is a conversation with inspiring women and men creating positive change and living their dream life. We explore my favourite question; what do you believe in?

Meet Tess Philip.  I was blessed to meet Tess at an event we both attended in Sydney earlier this year and her passion for her work – she’s a life and blog coach – absolutely shines.

Hey Tess!

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF…

I’m Tess and I am a life coach and blog coach for people who want to unleash their passion and get more of what they desire in life. I truly believe passion holds the key to happiness and fulfilment. One of my passions is writing and you may have seen some of my published work in Elite Daily.

I have just finished a course called Blog With Bliss for beginner bloggers showing them how to set up their blog from scratch. In conjunction to that I ran a podcast series which you can find on my blog called Babes who Blog designed to encourage beginner bloggers  and business babes to unleash their passion, find their voice and get blogging with confidence.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?  WHERE DO YOU ENVISION THIS PATH TAKING YOU?

Thats an interesting question. I just want to do what I love. Always. And that might change.

Life has so many twists and turns, You just don’t know where the path will take you. I am just trying to do what I am passionate about and take it day by day. Its been amazing because its led me to some awesome opportunities. Just when my business was taking off, a company offered me a great position as their life coach and social media strategist so its been incredible to be valued like that and apply my skills to do what I love and be rewarded for it. The company is fantastic to work with so I am looking forward to where that will take me. But I will keep my blog and continue doing what I do no matter where the road leads.

WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO NOURISH YOUR BODY WITH HEALTHY FOODS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS?

Because I know I only have one body so its important to me I treat it with the love and respect it deserves. That also means not being so hard on myself too. If I feel like chocolate I will have chocolate and feel good about it. But If I am not looking after myself well for an extended period of time it catches up to me pretty quickly and I don’t function very well. It also affects my sleep, mood and thoughts. I am really great with positive thought but I am not the most disciplined person when it comes to healthy food but I do my best! 🙂

WHAT DOES MEDITATION LOOK LIKE FOR YOU? WHY DO YOU DO IT?

Meditation to me is a way to minimise stress and stay present through deep breath work and turning off the mind from chatter and unproductive thoughts. Even if its taking deep breaths in and out on the bus or train or relaxing doing nothing. Fortunately I have learnt over the years to manage stress and avoid burn out through deep breath work. I have also learnt to declutter the mind and rid my mind of any thoughts that are not productive. As women we tend to think way too much and over analyse and its not good for our health. I also love to use yoga as a movement meditation so whenever I can I will do a yoga class.

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP FIVE TIPS TO LIVE A HEALTHY AND HAPPY LIFE?

1. Find what is you love and are passionate about and make some time to do that.
2. If it brings you joy, just do it. And laugh as much as you can.
3. Try to be healthy but if you slip up don’t be hard on yourself.
4. Eliminate anything that is toxic in your life from relationships, to the environment you live and thoughts.
5. Get as much fresh air as you can. Pause when you can and breathe

WHAT’S ONE THING YOU’D MOST LIKE TO CHANGE ABOUT THE WORLD?

Everyone to take action for their own happiness and stop waiting for others or something else to give that to them.

IF YOU COULD OFFER A CHILD VERSION OF YOURSELF ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Always know just how amazing you are and trust that. It may take you a few years to realise this but once you do, your life will change and lead to everything your heart desires and you will never need outside approval again.

I FEEL ALIVE WHEN… I’m living in the moment

THE THING I LOVE MOST ABOUT MYSELF… is my ability to bounce back after a set back and my determination in pursuing my passion no matter what

TO ME, SELF HEALTH WELLNESS MEANS… looking after our entire being, physically, mentally and from a soul level.

WHERE CAN WE FIND YOU?

Hey Meg!

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF…

I’m a writer, blogger, creator and Yoga teacher – whose mission is to make metaphysics and manifesting mainstream.

I know that we live in a world founded on energy and that means we possess an innate power to create our own reality. I am hell-bent on spreading this message and empowering people to start thinking their way into a life they want to live.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?  WHERE DO YOU ENVISION THIS PATH TAKING YOU?

My dream is to live a life which constantly excites me.

At this stage this looks like teaching yoga, writing and sharing my passion for metaphysics and energy with all who will listen.

I’ve got a good feeling this will all simply continue to expand (I’m thinking published books, sold out auditoriums of avid manifesting junkies…). But whatever my experience comes to be, I’m committed to constantly feeling good and aligning with Source.

WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO NOURISH YOUR BODY WITH HEALTHY FOODS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS?

This one is simple – Because it feels good.

I’m quite aware that feeling good is a signal from my Being that I’m in alignment with Source energy. And when I’m in alignment with this energy I know that it is literally against the Laws of the Universe for me to experience anything but that which I desire.

Simply put – for me, nourishing my Being with goodness (starting always with my thoughts!) is a practice in attracting what I want into my life.

WHAT DOES MEDITATION LOOK LIKE FOR YOU? WHY DO YOU DO IT?

My definition of meditation used to be quite strict – 20 minutes of formal sit at least once a day.

Now I’ve stepped into an understanding of meditation which is so much more fluid and feels so much better.

For me, it is simply a time to acknowledge my connection with Source. It is a time for me to connect intimately with this part of myself and unite it with my whole Being. Essentially I meditate this because, once again, it brings me into alignment, and when it I’m in alignment I feel good, and when I feel good my external world explodes with excitement.

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP FIVE TIPS TO LIVE A HEALTHY AND HAPPY LIFE?

1. Understand that your thoughts create your reality.

2. Understand that you cannot experience something that you are not the vibrational match of.

3. In order to change your vibration and therefore experience that which you desire, choose thoughts that align with what you want. A.k.a. Choose thoughts that make you feel good.

4. Repeat step 3 in every single moment

5. Observe (without attachment) and enjoy as your world changes to reflect this new vibrational state. A.K.A. Revel in being able to experience all that you’ve wanted!

These steps are a simple yet incredibly effective way to create a life you love, according to the Laws of the Universe. Health and happiness are a natural byproduct of choosing thoughts that feel good and being in a vibration that is aligned with your desires.

WHAT’S ONE THING YOU’D MOST LIKE TO CHANGE ABOUT THE WORLD?

I’d love to see a shift in perception of the overwhelming majority of the world’s population from that of “lack” to that of abundance.

I’d love for it to be accepted that we live in an all-providing, constantly nurturing, supportive and abundant Universe.

I’d love for our children and all those who follow them to learn the Law of Attraction so that they are empowered as early as possible to create a life they are excited to live.

IF YOU COULD OFFER A CHILD VERSION OF YOURSELF ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Well, my previous answer was the perfect segway to this one!

I’d tell her that every single thought she thinks is helping to shape how she feels, what she experiences, whom she calls into her life.

I’d tell her that all she needs to focus on is feeling good and everything else will fall into place.

I FEEL ALIVE WHEN… I’m dancing.

THE THING I LOVE MOST ABOUT MYSELF… is my passion.

TO ME, SELF HEALTH WELLNESS MEANS… acknowledging my innate connection to Source energy and committing (and RE-committing) to living life from this space in every moment.

I’m Addicted To Cold Showers

Cold Showers

I’m addicted to cold showers.

Yes.

Every night I tiptoe, holding my breath at first, into an icy cold shower.

It started after an old bad habit sneakily made its way back into my life. In 2013 I was doing some serious carb overloading for a few weeks after the fitness model competition I competed in. I’m talking oats with peanut butter or chocolate by the masses. This extreme carb cramming left me feeling hot and bothered, like my insides were inflamed and on fire. Cold showers bought relief to my self-inflicted discomfort. Continue reading

How To Define Your Values, Live Your Dream And Become Your Happiest Self

Define Values, Live dream, Happiest Self

What would the world look like if your values became law and we all had to live the way you do?  Cool to think about, huh?

One recurring theme that continues to show up in my coaching sessions with clients and in my own life too; that reaching goals, feeling successful and ultimately being deeply and truly happy comes from defining values and then living life by these powerful instinctive compasses.

Our values are very personal.  They are the set of standards and guidelines we live our lives by.  When we don’t know what our core values are or we don’t live by those values, we may experience deep feelings of inner conflict.  When we are off purpose the Universe draws attention to it by making it uncomfortable for us.

In order to move to a more ideal place, and ultimately, live our dream, we must first make peace with where we are now and allow it to be perfect in this present moment. The completion of one experience provides the power to begin another. Continue reading
